LORD SEND US REVIVAL

Acts 10:44-48

Truth: Revival comes when God’s people pray. Revival comes when the Holy Sprit comes. Revival comes and brings transformation to our lives. Will you pray for revival?

I. REVIVAL COMES WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE PRAY

  1. When there is spiritual and moral decline God puts a longing in our hearts for intense prayer. 2 Chron 7:14. Acts 10:4, Acts 4:31
  2. The preached Word brings deep conviction and a desire for Christ. Acts 2:37-38; Acts 10:34-43

II. REVIVAL COMES WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES

  1. The Holy Spirit convicts so deeply that only Christ can bring relief. Acts 10:44-45; Gal 3:22
  2. The Holy Spirit revives the backslidden. Psa 51:10-13
  3. God receives glory for the salvation of sinners and the reviving of the saints. Acts 10:46, Acts 8:39

III. REVIVAL BRINGS TRANSFORMATION TO ALL

  1. Sinners are saved join the church and live for God. Acts 10:47-48. Acts 2:47
  2. Christians forsake their sins and return to fellowship and service to Christ and His church.
  3. The church has a positive effect on society.

The Work Of The Church Today

THE WORK OF THE CHURCH TODAY

Acts 2:41-47

Truth: The church is to assist in making disciples. The church is to baptize new disciples. The church is to Disciple new disciples. Are you doing the work of the church?

I. THE CHURCH IS TO ASSIST IN MAKING DISCIPLES

  1. Our number one job is to share the Gospel. Acts 2:41, Acts 2:4,14, Matt 28:19
  2. Every member should be able to tell others how to be saved. Acts 2:41, Acts 16:30-31; 1 Peter 3:15
  3. When the church shares the Gospel souls will be saved. Acts 2:47, Acts 11:19-24

II. THE CHURCH IS TO BAPTIZE NEW DISCIPLES

  1. Jesus commanded the church to baptize new disciples. Matt 28:19. Three things we must have for Biblical baptism!
  2. 3000 new disciples where baptize at Pentecost. Acts 2:41
  3. Baptism is the first act of obedience after a person tells of being saved. Acts 2:38

III. THE CHURCH IS TO DISCIPLE NEW DISCIPLES

  1. Teach them the Word and show them how to live it. Acts 2:42, 44, Matt 28:20, Gal 5:16,22-23, Col 3:16-17
  2. Teach them to pray and fellowship. Acts 2:42, Matt 6:9-13, Heb 10:25, Eph 4:3
  3. Teach them to love one another in word and action. Acts 2:44-46, John 13:35

BEING A DISCIPLE OF JESUS

Matthew 5:13-20

Truth: A disciple of Jesus knows Jesus. A disciple of Jesus knows all about Jesus. A disciple of Jesus knows how to live for Jesus. Are you a disciple of Christ?

I. A DISCIPLE OF JESUS KNOWS JESUS

  1. A disciple of Jesus knows when they were lost. Matt 5:2-5
  2. A disciple of Jesus knows they need to repent of their sins and put their faith in the Lord Jesus for salvation. Matt 3:2, Matt 4:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 20:21
  3. A disciple of Jesus knows they have been saved. Matt 5:6; Rom 5:5; 1 Tim 1:12

II. A DISCIPLE OF JESUS KNOWS ALL ABOUT JESUS

  1. A disciple knows the Word of Christ. Matt 5:13, John 8:31-32
  2. A disciple knows the will of God. Matt 5:14-16, 1 Thess 5:18
  3. A disciple knows the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Matt 5:6, John 14:26

III. A DISCIPLE OF JESUS KNOWS HOW TO LIVE FOR JESUS

  1. Disciples of Christ are the salt of the earth. Matt 5:13, James 1:27
  2. Disciples of Christ are the light of the world. Matt 5:16,1 Peter 2:12
  3. Disciples of Christ are righteous in Christ! Matt 5:20, Rom 10:3-4

Only By The Grace Of God

ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD

Titus 2:11-3:1

Truth: The grace of God provided salvation. The grace of God is a gift. The grace of God enables us. Are you saved and serving by God’s grace?

I. THE GRACE OF GOD PROVIDED SALVATION

  1. The gospel message is the good news of God’s grace. Titus 2:11, John 1:17
  2. To understand grace, we need to consider who we are without Christ. Psa 51:5, Rom 3:9-10,23; 5:6,10; 6:23
  3. Who we are with Christ. Saved by grace. Eph 2:8, serve by grace. Acts 20:24, James 4:6, Rom 15:15, 1 Cor 3:10, Eph 3:2,7

II. THE GRACE OF GOD IS A GIFT

  1. God’s grace is a gift, nothing owed in return. Eph 2:8
  2. There is no cost to the recipient, great cost to the giver. 2 Cor 8:9
  3. The gift of God’s grace is permanent, ours forever. Eph 4:30
  4. The gift of grace is completely unmerited. 2 Tim 1:9

III. THE GRACE OF GOD ENABLES US

  1. By grace We can approach Him. Titus 2:14, Heb 4:16
  2. By grace We can learn of HIM. Titus 2:12, Mat 11:29
  3. By grace We can serve HIM. Titus 2:15, 1 Cor 15:10

Truth: Be thankful to God. Express your thankfulness to God. Be thankful in the tough times. Are you thankful to our God?

I. BE THANKFUL TO GOD

  1. God wants us to have an attitude of gratitude. 1 Thess 5:18, James 1:17, Rom 8:28
  2. God wants us to know He is God. Psa 100:3, Col 3:16, Psa 95:3-5, 1 Thess 5:19-21

II. EXPRESS YOUR THANKFULNESS TO GOD

  1. Thank God for your salvation, church membership, Holy Spirit leadership, the Word of God. Psa 107:1-2, 1 Thess 5:19-21
  2. Thank God by praising Him. Psa 100:1, Psa 95:2
  3. Thank God by serving Him. Psa 100:2-5

III. BE THANKFUL FOR THE TOUGH TIMES

  1. Tough times should cause us to draw closer to God. Psa 95: 7-11, 2 Cor 12:9-10
  2. Tough times should cause our faith to grow. 1 Peter 1:7-8
  3. Tough times can be our greatest witness. Dan 3:16-18, Matt 10:19-20

GREATNESS IN THE EYES OF CHRIST

Matthew 18:1-5

Truth: Jesus was the greatest. Greatness to God comes through serving. The greatest in God’s eyes serves all. Who is the greatest person you know?

I. JESUS IS THE GREATEST

  1. Jesus is God in the flesh who came to do God’s will. John 6:38, Phil 2:7
  2. Jesus displayed His greatness by His service. Matt 20:28, John 13:14-17
  3. Jesus ultimate service was His life for our sins. 1 Tim 2:5-6

II. GREATNESS TO GOD COMES THROUGH SERVICE

  1. God’s greatest servants have a converted heart like a child. Matt 18:1-3, 1 Sam 16:7, Luke 18:16-17
  2. God’s greatest servants have a child’s humble heart to serve. Matt 18:4, Matt 20:25-27
  3. God’s greatest servants put others above themselves. Mark 9:35, Phil 2:3

III. THE GREATEST IN GOD’S EYES SERVES ALL

  1. The greatest among us serves Christ by serving in the church. Matt 18:5, Luke 9:48, 1 Peter 4:10-11
  2. The greatest among us serves Christ by serving the unsaved. Matt 5:38-48

SHARING WITH OTHERS HOW TO BE SAVED

John 3:1-21

Truth: We share that you must be saved. We share you must believe in Jesus to be saved. We share you will know when you are saved. Do you share with others how to be saved?

I. WE SHARE YOU MUST BE SAVED OR BORN AGAIN

  1. Everyone is born a sinner and must be born again. John 3:1-7. Rom 3:10,23, Gal 3:22
  2. The saved share the Word of God in the Spirit of God. John 3:7, Matt 28:18, 1 Cor 2:4-5
  3. The saved understand the work of the Spirit in us. John 3:8-13. 1 Cor 2:9-11, Rom 8:16,14, Eph 1:12-14

II. WE SHARE YOU MUST BELIEVE IN JESUS TO BE SAVED

  1. Jesus and the cross must be shared. John 3:14, 1 Cor 1:18, John 12:32
  2. God’s love for the world must be shared. John 3:16,17, Rom 5:8, 1 John 4:9
  3. Jesus as your personal Savoir much be believed. John 3:15, 18, Rom 10:8-13. You must call on the Lord Jesus

III. WE SHARE YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU ARE SAVED

  1. The unsaved are condemned and know it. John 3:18-20. Acts 2:37, Acts 9:5, Psa 116:3
  2. The saved no longer feel condemned and apart from God. John 3:21, Rom 5:1-5, 1 Peter 1:8-9

THE JOY OF LIVING FOR CHRIST

John 15:1-17

Truth: To live in the joy of Christ you must abide in Him. To live in the joy of Christ you must obey Him. Are you living in the joy of the Christ?

I. TO LIVE IN THE JOY OF CHRIST YOU MUST ABIDE IN HIM

  1. Christ is the vine, the Father is the branch caretaker, we are the Branches. TO LIVE FOR HIM IS TO BEAR FRUIT. John 15:1-2
  2. The Father takes away the unfruitful branch and cast it in the fire. John 15:2, John 15:6, 1 Cor 3:13-16
  3. The Father purges the fruitful with the Word so they will be more fruitful. John 15:2-3, Eph 5:26, 1 Peter 1:22
  4. We cannot bear fruit, more fruit, and much fruit unless we abide with Christ. John 15:4-8, Phil 4:13
  5. Fruitful believers glorify The Father and are true disciples. John 15:8, Matt 5:16, Phil 1:9-11
  6. Fruitful Christians keep Christ’s commandments and continue and abide in His love. John 15:9-10, 1 John 3:16

II. TO LIVE IN THE JOY OF CHRIST YOU MUST OBEY HIM

  1. Full joy comes when we love one another as the Lord loves us. John 15:11-12, 1 Peter 4:8
  2. We are a friend of Christ when we lay down our lives by loving our church family. John 15:13-15, John 13:14
  3. Jesus has chosen us to be fruitful and to receive answers to our prayers. John 15:16-17, 1 Peter 2:9, 1 John 3:24

Truth: The Holy Spirit empowers us to serve in love. The Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome the flesh. The Holy Spirit empowers us to produce fruit. Are you living in the Spirit?

I. THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US TO SERVE IN LOVE

  1. We are called to liberty. Gal 5:13, Rom 8:1-2,1 John 5:3-4, Gal 4:6
  2. We are called to fulfil the law through love. Gal 5:14-15, Rom 13:8-14

II. THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US TO OVERCOME THE FLESH

  1. The conflict is the flesh lusting against the spirit. Gal 5:16-17, Rom 7:15,19
  2. The conquest comes when we surrender our will to the Holy Spirit. Gal 5:18, Psa 40:8, Heb 10:14-17
  3. The crucifixion of the flesh through Christ is our goal. Gal 5:19-20, 24, Gal 2:20, Rom 6:6

III. THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US TO GODLY CHARACTER

  1. The Spirit by love produces an attitude of joy and peace. Gal 5:22, John 15:9-10, 11, John 14:27, Phil 4:7
  2. The Spirit enables me to be long-suffering (courageous endurance without quitting), to be gentle (kind), and to do good (love in action). Gal 5:22
  3. The Spirit will increase my faith, encourage meekness and produce temperance (self-control). Gal 5:22-23
  4. If we live in the Spirit we will walk in the Spirit. Gal 5:25-26

Truth: True prayer speaks to God in His language. Prayer changes things. True Prayer brings power into our lives. Does your prayer change things?

I. TRUE PRAYER SPEAKS TO GOD IN HIS LANGUAGE

  1. Jesus prayed to God the Father and taught His disciples to pray. Luke 11:1- 2, Matt 6:9
  2. True prayer depends on a spiritual relationship with God that enables us to call Him “Father,” and this can come only through faith in Jesus Christ. Luke 11:2, Rom 8:14-17
  3. True Prayer always includes the will of God. Luke 11:2, John 6:38, Matt 26:39

II. TRUE PRAYER BRINGS CHANGE

  1. Prayer reminds us God provides our daily needs. Luke 11:3, James 1:17, Phil 4:19
  2. Prayer brings forgiveness for our sins. Luke 11:4, 1 John 1:9, Psa 51:10, 12
  3. Prayer brings leadership for our daily walk. Luke 11:4, Psa 119:105, John 16:13
  4. Prayer reminds me to consistently seek God’s help. Luke 11:5-8

III. TRUE PRAYER BRINGS POWER INTO OUR LIVES

  1. Keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking, God will answer your prayer. Luke 11:9-10, John 15:7, 1 John 3:22
  2. God our Father wants to empower our lives to work out His will. Luke 11:11-13, John 14:21, Acts 1:8, Heb 4:12
