OUR GREATEST GIFTS

John 1:10-14

Truth: The world’s greatest gift is Jesus. Our greatest gift is the salvation of Jesus. Our greatest gift to Jesus is our service for Him. What is your greatest gift?

I. THE WORLD’S GREATEST GIFT IS JESUS

  1. Jesus became flesh to save the world. John1:14; Heb 1:3; 1 Tim 1:15; John 1:29
  2. Jesus destroyed the power of sin. 1 Cor 15:55-57
  3. Jesus gave us a way to heaven. 1 Cor 15:20-22

II. OUR GREATEST GIFT IS THE GIFT OF SALVATION

  1. Jesus came to save His own. John1:10-12; Rom 10:8-13
  2. Jesus saves those that receive Him. Vs. 12; Rom 10:14-17
  3. Jesus chose to save those that believe with all their heart.

III. OUR GREATEST GIFT TO JESUS IS OUR SERVICE FOR HIM

  1. Know and show Jesus to the world. Phil 3:9-10; Matt 5:15-16
  2. Go and make disciples. Matt 28:19
  3. Love and serve one another in the church. 1 Peter 1:22; 1 Peter 4:10
  4. Give generously. 2 Cor 9:7

JESUS CAME TO BE OUR SAVIOUR

Luke 2:1-18

Truth: Jesus came to save the world. Jesus came to save each one of us. Jesus came and we are to tell the world. Jesus came to save the world!

I. JESUS CAME TO SAVE THE WORLD

  1. Jesus became flesh. Luke 2:1-7, John 1:1-2,14
  2. Jesus came to be the Savior of the world. Luke 2:8-11, John 3:16.
  3. Jesus came to die for our sins. Matt 1:21, 1 Cor 15:3, 1 Tim 1:15, Rom 5:8
  4. Jesus came meek and lowly at heart. Matt 11:29; 2 Cor 8:9; Luke 4:18-19; Rom 8:34; Eph 3:17; John 14:31

II. JESUS CAME TO SAVE EACH ONE OF US

  1. The shepherds heard about the birth of their Savior. Luke 2:11-14
  2. We are saved because we heard about the birth of Christ. Matt 1:23, Gal 4:4-6
  3. We are saved because we believed in Jesus. Eph 1:12-13; 3:17

III. JESUS CAME AND WE ARE TO TELL THE WORLD

  1. Christ commissioned us to share why He came. Luke 2:15-18; Matt 28:19
  2. We are to proclaim that trust in Jesus is the only way to be saved. Acts. 4:12, Acts 13:38-39

Salvation Has Come

SALVATION HAS COME

Luke 2:21-38

Truth: Jesus is our salvation. Simeon called Jesus the consolation of Israel. Anna called Jesus our redeemer. Has salvation come for you?

I. JESUS IS OUR SALVATION

  1. Salvation is the deliverance, by the grace of God, from eternal punishment for sin. Luke 2:21, Rom 5:9, 1 Thess 5:9
  2. Salvation is available in Jesus alone and is dependent on God alone for provision, assurance, and security. Acts 4:12, 2 Cor 1:22, 1 Peter 1:5
  3. Salvation is granted to those who trust God’s conditions of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus. Luke 2:30, Acts 20:21

II. JESUS IS THE CONSOLATION OF ISRAEL

  1. The Consolation means Jesus is the Messiah. Luke 2:25, John 4:25-26
  2. Jesus is the Lord’s Christ. Luke 2:26, 30-32, John 3:16-17
  3. Jesus will lead Israel and the Gentiles to salvation. Luke 2:34-36, Acts 13:47-48, Isa 60:1-3

III. ANNA CALLED JESUS OUR REDEEMER

  1. Sin separates us from God. Isa 59:2, Rom 6:23, Rom 3:23
  2. Anna praised the baby Jesus because He came to redeem us from our sins. John 1:19, Eph 1:7, Heb 9:12-15

THE BIRTH OF THE SON OF GOD

Luke 2:1-20

Truth: The Son of God was born to save the world. The Son of God was born to save you. The Son of God was born must be shared by us. The Son of God was born to save the world!

I. THE SON OF GOD WAS BORN TO SAVE THE WORLD

  1. The Son of God became flesh. Luke 2:1-7, John 1:1-2,14
  2. The Son of God came to be the Savior of the world. Luke 2:8-11, Isa 9:6-7, John 3:16
  3. The Son of God was born to die for our sins on the cross. Matt 1:21, 1 Cor 15:3, Col 1:20, 1 Tim 1:15, Rev 1:5

II. THE SON OF GOD WAS BORN TO SAVE YOU

Truth: Where was Mary from? Why was Mary there? Where was Mary going? Where are you going?

I. WHERE WAS MARY FROM AND WHO WAS SHE?

  1. Mary was from Nazareth. Luke 1:26, 1 Cor 1: 26-31
  2. Mary was a virgin espoused to a man named Joseph. Luke 1:27, Isa 7:14, Moses and David
  3. Mary was highly favored, blessed among women. Luke 1:27-33, Luke 1:42-45, 1 Cor 15:10
  4. Mary was found with child or over shadowed of the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:34-35, Matt 1:18, 20, 2 Cor 4:7

II. WHY WAS MARY HERE ON THIS EARTH?

  1. Mary was here to give glory to God. Luke 1:36-38, Luke 1:46-47, 1 Cor 10:31, 1 Peter 4:10-11
  2. Mary gave birth to the Son of God. Matt 1:24-25, Eph 2:10
  3. Mary was a mother to Jesus. Luke 2:51, John 19:26-27

III. WHERE WAS MARY GOING?

  1. Mary went to Heaven because she was a believer in Christ. Luke 1:45, 49
  2. All who trust is Jesus will go to Heaven when they die! John 6:47, John 3:16
  3. Those who do not trust in Jesus for salvation will go to hell. Rev 21:8
