REMEMBERING OUR LORD’S DEATH

1 Corinthians 11:23-34

Truth: Remember the reason for our Lord’s death. We are to Remember He will return for us. Remember to examine ourselves. Let us remember and be thankful for our Lord’s death.

I. REMEMBER THE REASON FOR OUR LORD’S DEATH

  1. The bread represents his body broken for us. 1 Cor 11:23-24, Isa 53:4-5
  2. The cup represents His blood shed for our sins. 1 Cor 11:25, Heb 9:12, 22, Eph 1:7, Col 1:14
  3. The Bread and the cup take us back to the cross. 1 Cor 11:26. Isa 53:6, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Tim 1:15

II. REMEMBER HE WILL RETURN FOR US

  1. Jesus told His disciples he would return to carry them home with Him. 1 Cor 11:26, Acts1:11, John 14:1-3
  2. He will bring His heavenly saints with Him. 1 Thess. 4:16-18

III. REMEMBER TO EXAMINE OURSELVES

  1. Come to the supper Saved and a member of the Lord’s church. 1 Cor 11:28, 1 Peter 3:15, Acts 2:41
  2. Come to the supper unworthy but forgiven. 1 Cor 11:29-32, 1 John 1:9, Psa 32:5
  3. Come to the supper in unity. 1 Cor 11:33-34, Eph 4:1-3

What A Christian Can Do In These Times

WHAT A CHRISTIAN CAN DO IN THESE TIMES

Luke 10:1-42

Truth: We can Represent Jesus Christ. We can demonstrate love for our neighbor. We can Worship our LORD. What are you doing in these times for the Lord?

I. WE CAN REPRESENT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

  1. Pray for more laborers and preach the peace of God’s kingdom has come. Luke 10:1-12; Matt 9:37
  2. Share that judgement will come to those who reject the truth. Luke 10:13-16; Rev 20:15
  3. Rejoice that your name is written in Heaven. Luke 10:17-20
  4. Know Jesus rejoices when we represent God to our world. Luke 10:21-24

II. WE CAN DEMONSTRATE LOVE FOR OUR NEIGHBOR

  1. Love for God will be demonstrated by love for our neighbor. Luke 10:25-28
  2. Recognize who our neighbor is and respond. Luke 10:29-37

III. WE CAN WORSHIP OUR LORD

  1. To worship we welcome the Lord into our home. Luke 10:38; Matt 6:21
  2. To worship we set at Christ’s feet and hear His Word. Luke 10:39; John 14:23
  3. To worship we center our lives on Christ, choosing the good part that can not be taken away. Luke 10:40-42; Matt 11:28-30

How To Be The Chosen Of God

HOW TO BE CHOSEN BY GOD

Matthew 22:1-14

Truth: Jesus invites all to be His chosen. Jesus invites all, but not all are chosen. Jesus invites all to be chosen, but you must choose Him. Have you been chosen by Jesus?

I. JESUS INVITES ALL TO BE HIS CHOSEN

  1. The nation of Israel where God’s chosen. Matt 22:1-3. Deut 14:2; John 1:11-13
  2. The invitation to be one of God’s chosen is given to all. Matt 22:4,9, Rom 10:13; John 3:16; Matt 11:28
  3. The Gospel message is to the world! Matt 28:19

II. NOT ALL ARE CHOSEN

  1. The nation of Israel rejected Christ. Matt 22:3,4-8. Matt 23:37-39
  2. All who reject Christ will not be chosen. Matt 22:11, 14; Acts 4:12; Matt 7:21-23

III. TO BE CHOSEN, YOU MUST CHOOSE HIM

  1. The Lord chooses from the bad and the good. Matt 22:10; Acts 10:34. Rom 2:11
  2. You choose Christ by seeking forgiveness of your sins. Acts 16:30; Acts 2:37
  3. You choose Christ by faith through His grace. Rom 4:16; Gal 3:22
  4. When you surrender to Him, Christ gives you Salvation and you become one of His chosen. 2 Thess 2:13; James 2:5; 1 Peter 2:9; Rev 17:14

Living For An Audience Of One

LIVING FOR AN AUDIENCE OF ONE

Matthew 11:25-30

Truth: Jesus reveals Himself to the humble. Jesus invites all who labor and are heavy laden to Him for rest. Jesus says the yoke is easy and the burden light. Who are you living for?

I. JESUS REVEALS HIMSELF TO THE HUMBLE

  1. God always resist the intellectually and spiritually proud. Matt 11:25-26; James 4:7;1 Peter 5:5
  2. God through Christ reveals Himself to the child like humble and honest. Matt 11:27; Matt 16:17; James 4:7-10

II. JESUS INVITES ALL WHO LABOR AND ARE HEAVY LADEN TO REST IN HIM

  1. Jesus says come to Him and receive rest. Matt 11:28; Psa 34:18, Rom 10:13; Titus 3:5-7. Rom 5:1
  2. Jesus says take my yoke and find a deeper rest of surrender and obedience. When we submit to Christ, we are yoked to Him. This is talking about discipleship Matt 11:29; Luke 9:23; Phil 4:6-8
  3. Jesus says learn of Me. The more we learn about Jesus the more we can know Him and His peace. Isa 26:3; 2 Tim 2:15

III. JESUS SAYS THE YOKE IS EASY, THE BURDEN IS LIGHT

  1. The word “easy” means “well-fitting”; He has just the yoke that is tailor-made for our lives and needs. Matt 11:30; 1 Cor 15:10
  2. The burden of doing His will is not a heavy one. 1 John 5:3

Why And How We Must Be Saved?

WHY AND HOW WE MUST BE SAVED?

Romans 5:12-21

Truth: We must be saved because of sin. We can be saved because Jesus died for our sins. We are saved when we repent of our sin and have faith in Jesus Christ! Have you been saved?

I. WE MUST BE SAVED BECAUSE OF SIN

  1. Adam brought sin into the world. Rom 5:12, Gen 2:15-17; Gen 3:6
  2. Sin brought death to all mankind. Rom 5:12, 1 Cor 15:21- 22, Gen 3:17-19
  3. Death is the only payment for sin. Rom 6:23, Vs. 13-18

II. WE CAN BE SAVED BECAUSE CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS

  1. Jesus Christ died for the sins of Adam and all mankind. Rom 5:18, Heb 2:9, 1 John 2:2
  2. Jesus Christ died for our sins because He was sinless. Rom 5:17-19; Phil 2:8-11; 2 Cor 5:21
  3. Jesus Christ is our only hope to be saved. Rom 5:20-21;1 Tim 2:3-6

III. WE ARE SAVED ONCE WE REPENT AND BELIEVE ON CHRIST

  1. It is the goodness of God that leads one to repentance. Rom 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Acts 11:18; Acts 5:31
  2. We are saved by grace through faith. Eph 2:8, Acts 16:30-31
  3. When that are saved have eternal life. Rom 5:21; John 6:47

Sharing With Others How To Be Saved

SHARING WITH OTHERS HOW TO BE SAVED

John 3:1-21

Truth: We share that you must be saved. We share you must believe in Jesus to be saved. We share you will know when you are saved. Do you share with others how to be saved?

I. WE SHARE YOU MUST BE SAVED OR BORN AGAIN

  1. Everyone is born a sinner and must be born again. John 3:1-7. Rom 3:10,23, Gal 3:22
  2. The saved share the Word of God in the Spirit of God. John 3:7, Matt 28:18, 1 Cor 2:4-5
  3. The saved understand the work of the Spirit in us. John 3:8-13. 1 Cor 2:9-11, Rom 8:16,14, Eph 1:12-14

II. WE SHARE YOU MUST BELIEVE IN JESUS TO BE SAVED

  1. Jesus and the cross must be shared. John 3:14, 1 Cor 1:18, John 12:32
  2. God’s love for the world must be shared. John 3:16,17, Rom 5:8, 1 John 4:9
  3. Jesus as your personal Savoir much be believed. John 3:15, 18, Rom 10:8-13. You must call on the Lord Jesus

III. WE SHARE YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU ARE SAVED

  1. The unsaved are condemned and know it. John 3:18-20. Acts 2:37, Acts 9:5, Psa 116:3
  2. The saved no longer feel condemned and apart from God. John 3:21, Rom 5:1-5, 1 Peter 1:8-9
