REMEMBERING OUR LORD’S DEATH

1 Corinthians 11:23-34

Truth: Remember the reason for our Lord’s death. We are to Remember He will return for us. Remember to examine ourselves. Let us remember and be thankful for our Lord’s death.

I. REMEMBER THE REASON FOR OUR LORD’S DEATH

  1. The bread represents his body broken for us. 1 Cor 11:23-24, Isa 53:4-5
  2. The cup represents His blood shed for our sins. 1 Cor 11:25, Heb 9:12, 22, Eph 1:7, Col 1:14
  3. The Bread and the cup take us back to the cross. 1 Cor 11:26. Isa 53:6, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Tim 1:15

II. REMEMBER HE WILL RETURN FOR US

  1. Jesus told His disciples he would return to carry them home with Him. 1 Cor 11:26, Acts1:11, John 14:1-3
  2. He will bring His heavenly saints with Him. 1 Thess. 4:16-18

III. REMEMBER TO EXAMINE OURSELVES

  1. Come to the supper Saved and a member of the Lord’s church. 1 Cor 11:28, 1 Peter 3:15, Acts 2:41
  2. Come to the supper unworthy but forgiven. 1 Cor 11:29-32, 1 John 1:9, Psa 32:5
  3. Come to the supper in unity. 1 Cor 11:33-34, Eph 4:1-3

I Pledge Allegiance To You Lord

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO YOU LORD

Joshua 24:14-15

Truth: You must choose freedom in Christ. You will pay a great price. You will reap a great reward. Have you pledged your allegiance to the Lord?

I. YOU MUST CHOOSE FREEDOM IN CHRIST

  1. You must choose to be saved above all else. Acts 2:37; Acts 9:5-6; Psa 34:18
  2. You must ask Christ to save you and believe with all your heart He will. Matt 7:7; Matt 21:22
  3. You must tell it when Christ comes into your heart. 1 Peter 1:8-9; Eph 1:13-14

II. YOU WILL PAY A GREAT PRICE

  1. Family and friends will choose worldly friends over you. 1 Peter 4:4
  2. You will have to take a Biblical stand against sin. Acts 5:29
  3. Real believers are sold out to Jesus. Gal 2:20; Luke 14:33; Luke 9:23-26

III. YOU WILL RECEIVE A GREAT REWARD

  1. You will be free because you know the truth. John 8:32; Rom 6:22
  2. You are free because you know the power of Christ. Rom 8:2; Rom 8:14
  3. You leave this world you will rest in the Lord. Rev 14:13

Our Great Salvation

OUR GREAT SALVATION

Hebrews 2:1-4

Truth: We have been saved from condemnation as sinners and granted salvation as the children of God. We are being saved through the process of daily sanctification. We will be saved from physical death to eternal life in heaven. Are you neglecting your salvation?

I. WE ARE SAVED FROM CONDEMNATION AS SINNERS AND GRANTED SALVATION AS CHILDREN OF GOD

  1. The saved are no longer condemned. John 3:16-18; Rom 8:1
  2. Salvation is received the moment you repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus. Rom 8:16, Eph 1:13-14
  3. Our great salvation is kept by God’s power. 1 Peter 1:5; Eph 4:30

II. WE ARE BEING SAVED THROUGH THE PROCESS OF DAILY SANCTIFICATION

  1. There is a continual process of living a holy life for Christ. Eph 4:22-24; Rom 6:4
  2. Believers are to live as the holy person they are. 2 Cor 5:17-18; Rom 12:2

III. WE WILL BE SAVED FROM PHYSICAL DEATH TO ETERNAL LIFE

  1. The Saint goes to be with the Lord at physical death. 2 Cor 5:8
  2. The Saint will have a glorified body like Christ one day. 1 John 3:2; 1 Cor 15:51-58

Why And How We Must Be Saved?

WHY AND HOW WE MUST BE SAVED?

Romans 5:12-21

Truth: We must be saved because of sin. We can be saved because Jesus died for our sins. We are saved when we repent of our sin and have faith in Jesus Christ! Have you been saved?

I. WE MUST BE SAVED BECAUSE OF SIN

  1. Adam brought sin into the world. Rom 5:12, Gen 2:15-17; Gen 3:6
  2. Sin brought death to all mankind. Rom 5:12, 1 Cor 15:21- 22, Gen 3:17-19
  3. Death is the only payment for sin. Rom 6:23, Vs. 13-18

II. WE CAN BE SAVED BECAUSE CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS

  1. Jesus Christ died for the sins of Adam and all mankind. Rom 5:18, Heb 2:9, 1 John 2:2
  2. Jesus Christ died for our sins because He was sinless. Rom 5:17-19; Phil 2:8-11; 2 Cor 5:21
  3. Jesus Christ is our only hope to be saved. Rom 5:20-21;1 Tim 2:3-6

III. WE ARE SAVED ONCE WE REPENT AND BELIEVE ON CHRIST

  1. It is the goodness of God that leads one to repentance. Rom 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Acts 11:18; Acts 5:31
  2. We are saved by grace through faith. Eph 2:8, Acts 16:30-31
  3. When that are saved have eternal life. Rom 5:21; John 6:47

Truth: Where was Mary from? Why was Mary there? Where was Mary going? Where are you going?

I. WHERE WAS MARY FROM AND WHO WAS SHE?

  1. Mary was from Nazareth. Luke 1:26, 1 Cor 1: 26-31
  2. Mary was a virgin espoused to a man named Joseph. Luke 1:27, Isa 7:14, Moses and David
  3. Mary was highly favored, blessed among women. Luke 1:27-33, Luke 1:42-45, 1 Cor 15:10
  4. Mary was found with child or over shadowed of the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:34-35, Matt 1:18, 20, 2 Cor 4:7

II. WHY WAS MARY HERE ON THIS EARTH?

  1. Mary was here to give glory to God. Luke 1:36-38, Luke 1:46-47, 1 Cor 10:31, 1 Peter 4:10-11
  2. Mary gave birth to the Son of God. Matt 1:24-25, Eph 2:10
  3. Mary was a mother to Jesus. Luke 2:51, John 19:26-27

III. WHERE WAS MARY GOING?

  1. Mary went to Heaven because she was a believer in Christ. Luke 1:45, 49
  2. All who trust is Jesus will go to Heaven when they die! John 6:47, John 3:16
  3. Those who do not trust in Jesus for salvation will go to hell. Rev 21:8

There Is Rest For God’s People

THERE IS REST FOR GOD’S PEOPLE

Hebrews 4:1-13

Truth: There is a rest with God in salvation. There is rest is submission to God. There is a future rest in heaven for God’s people. Are you resting in Christ?

I. THERE IS REST WITH GOD IN SALVATION

  1. As God rested on the seventh day we have rest when we are saved. Heb 4:1-5, Matt 11:28
  2. As Israel was set free from the bondage of Egypt when we believe the Gospel we are free from bondage of sin. Col 1:13-14

II. THERE IS REST IN SUBMISSION TO GOD

  1. The believer must take heed that he grieves not God with a hard heart or an erring heart, or an unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. Heb 3:7-12
  2. The believers are to exhort one another daily to prevent a hard heart because of the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:13
  3. Believers are partakers of Christ and are to labor to enter into that rest through His Holy Word. Heb 3:14-19, 4:11-13
  4. The land of Canaan is a type of our spiritual inheritance in Christ (Eph. 1:3, 11, 15-23). Matt 11:29-30

III. THERE IS A FUTURE REST IN HEAVEN FOR GOD’S PEOPLE

  1. There remains a (sab-bat-is-mos’) rest for the people of God. Heb 4:9-10
  2. When the saints enter heaven, it will be like sharing God’s great Sabbath rest, with all labors and battles ended (Rev. 14:13).

THE DOORWAY TO GOD’S KINGDOM

Matthew 5:3

Truth: The poor in spirit find God’s Kingdom. The pure in heart see God. Those persecuted for righteousness’ sake reveal God’s Kingdom. Are you part of the God’s Kingdom?

I. THE POOR IN SPIRIT FIND GOD’S KINGDOM

  1. A self-sufficient person has difficulty being saved. Matt 19:16-17, Luke 18:11, Luke 18:25
  2. A person poor in spirit knows he is helpless without God. Luke 18:13-14
  3. Only then are we willing to come to Him as paupers and receive from Him. Mark 9:21-24

II. THE PURE IN HEART SEE GOD

  1. We see God when His Spirit comes into our heart. 2 Cor 4:6, 1 Cor 2:16
  2. We see God when we are made a new creature in Christ. 2 Cor 5:17, Matt 13:11

III. THE PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS’ SAKE REVEAL GOD’S KINGDOM

  1. Persecuted for preaching Jesus. Matt 5:10-12
  2. Persecuted for preaching righteousness. Rom 3:22, Rom 10:10, Matt 5:20
  3. Persecuted for preaching righteous living. Isa 5:20-21
