1 Corinthians 11:23-34

Truth: Remember the reason for our Lord’s death. We are to Remember He will return for us. Remember to examine ourselves. Let us remember and be thankful for our Lord’s death.

I. REMEMBER THE REASON FOR OUR LORD’S DEATH

  1. The bread represents his body broken for us. 1 Cor 11:23-24, Isa 53:4-5
  2. The cup represents His blood shed for our sins. 1 Cor 11:25, Heb 9:12, 22, Eph 1:7, Col 1:14
  3. The Bread and the cup take us back to the cross. 1 Cor 11:26. Isa 53:6, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Tim 1:15

II. REMEMBER HE WILL RETURN FOR US

  1. Jesus told His disciples he would return to carry them home with Him. 1 Cor 11:26, Acts1:11, John 14:1-3
  2. He will bring His heavenly saints with Him. 1 Thess. 4:16-18

III. REMEMBER TO EXAMINE OURSELVES

  1. Come to the supper Saved and a member of the Lord’s church. 1 Cor 11:28, 1 Peter 3:15, Acts 2:41
  2. Come to the supper unworthy but forgiven. 1 Cor 11:29-32, 1 John 1:9, Psa 32:5
  3. Come to the supper in unity. 1 Cor 11:33-34, Eph 4:1-3

Jesus Came Into The World To Save Us

JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD TO SAVE US

1 Timothy 1:15

Truth: Jesus came as the Godman. Jesus came to fulfill the Law. Jesus came to die for our sins. Have you trusted Christ as your Saviour?

I. JESUS CAME AS THE GODMAN

  1. Jesus was born of a virgin. Matt 1:23; Luke 1:35
  2. Jesus was man and God. Matt. 1:23
  3. Jesus came to save His people. Matt 1:21

II. JESUS CAME TO FULFILL THE LAW Matt 5:17-18; Rom 10:4

  1. Jesus always honored God the Father. John 6:38; Matt 26:39; John 4:23
  2. Jesus honored His mother and earthly father. Luke 2:51
  3. Jesus never killed or thought wrongly about any women, or stole, or lied. Heb 4:15; 2 Cor 5:21
  4. Jesus never coveted another man’s things. Matt 8:20

III. JESUS CAME TO DIED FOR OUR SINS

  1. Jesus died the cruel death of the cross for us. Isa 53:5
  2. Jesus died for our sins. 1 Cor 15:3; 1 John 3:4-5
  3. Jesus died and rose again to bring salvation to us. John 14:6; Act 4:12; 2 Cor 5:18
  4. Jesus died to save all who believe in Him. 1 Tim 1:15; John 3:16-18

The Grace Of God Has Appeared To All Men

THE GRACE OF GOD HAS APPEARED TO ALL MEN

Titus 2:9-15

Truth: The grace of God redeems. The grace of God transforms us. The grace of God rewards us. Are you living in the grace of God?

I. THE GRACE OF GOD REDEEMS US

  1. Grace came by Jesus Christ and brought salvation to all men. Titus 2:10-11; Rom 5:15
  2. Christ gave Himself to redeem us from all iniquity. Titus 2:14; Titus 3:3-7

II. THE GRACE OF GOD TRANSFORMS US

  1. God’s grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lust, to live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Titus 2:12; 1 John 5:15-17; Rom 12:1-2
  2. Grace reforms us because God purifies (sanctifies) us and makes us His own special possession. Titus 2:14; Rom 8:29; 1
    Peter 2:9
  3. Sanctification is not only separation from sin, but it is also devotion to God. 2 Cor 6: 14-7:1

III. THE GRACE OF GOD REWARDS US

  1. Grace empowers us to look to our blessed hope. Titus 2:13; 1 Cor 1:7; 2 Cor 5:8-10
  2. Grace enables us to look for the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13; 1 Thess 4:13-18

HOW WE LEARN FROM GODLY MOMS

Proverbs 31:1,10, 26-31

Truth: Godly moms teach us to know the Lord. Godly moms are not perfect. Godly moms never quit. Thank God for godly moms.

I. GODLY MOMS TEACH US TO KNOW THE LORD

  1. Godly moms have salvation. 2 Tim 1:5, Luke 1:5-6, Luke 1:45
  2. Godly moms talk about the Lord. Luke 1:46-50
  3. Godly moms teach us about the Lord. 2 Tim 3:15

II. GODLY MOMS ARE NOT PERFECT

  1. Moms sometimes push too hard. John 2:4-5
  2. Moms sometimes want to much for their kids. Matt 20:20-23
  3. Moms sometimes underestimate their kids. Luke 8:19-21; Phil 4:19

III. GODLY MOMS NEVER QUIT

  1. Godly moms never quit on the Lord. 1 Sam 1:10-11
  2. Godly moms never quit on their kids. Matt 15:22-28
  3. Godly moms go the distance with their kids. John 19:25-27

Our Great Salvation

OUR GREAT SALVATION

Hebrews 2:1-4

Truth: We have been saved from condemnation as sinners and granted salvation as the children of God. We are being saved through the process of daily sanctification. We will be saved from physical death to eternal life in heaven. Are you neglecting your salvation?

I. WE ARE SAVED FROM CONDEMNATION AS SINNERS AND GRANTED SALVATION AS CHILDREN OF GOD

  1. The saved are no longer condemned. John 3:16-18; Rom 8:1
  2. Salvation is received the moment you repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus. Rom 8:16, Eph 1:13-14
  3. Our great salvation is kept by God’s power. 1 Peter 1:5; Eph 4:30

II. WE ARE BEING SAVED THROUGH THE PROCESS OF DAILY SANCTIFICATION

  1. There is a continual process of living a holy life for Christ. Eph 4:22-24; Rom 6:4
  2. Believers are to live as the holy person they are. 2 Cor 5:17-18; Rom 12:2

III. WE WILL BE SAVED FROM PHYSICAL DEATH TO ETERNAL LIFE

  1. The Saint goes to be with the Lord at physical death. 2 Cor 5:8
  2. The Saint will have a glorified body like Christ one day. 1 John 3:2; 1 Cor 15:51-58

Truth: Jesus suffered at the hands of sinful men. Jesus came to sacrifice Himself for our sins. Jesus the risen Lord brought salvation. Have you trusted in the risen Christ?

I. JESUS SUFFERED AT THE HANDS OF SINFUL MEN

  1. Jesus was betrayed, mocked, and denied. Vs. 7; Luke 22:48; Luke 22:63-65; Luke 22:60-61
  2. Jesus was abused. Isa 53: 5, 11; Matt 27:26-30
  3. Jesus could have stop it all but did not because He loved us. Matt 26:52-53

II. JESUS CAME TO SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR OUR SINS

  2. Jesus is the Son of God. John 3:16
  3. Jesus died for our sins. 1 Peter 3:18, 2 Cor 5:21
  4. Jesus died to give us access to the throne of God. Matt 27:50-51

III. JESUS THE RISEN LORD BROUGHT SALVATION

  1. The resurrection of Christ affirms who He is. Rom 1:4
  2. The resurrection of Christ proves that His sacrifice for sin has been accepted and that the work of salvation is completed. Rom 4:24-25
  3. The resurrection of Christ assures us that we will be raised from the dead when Christ returns for all believers. Rom 8:11. 1 Thess 4:13-18

COURAGE FOR THE BATTLES OF LIFE

2 Corinthians 4:1-5:8

Truth: We have a glorious ministry. We have a valuable treasure. We have a confident faith. We have a future hope. Are you ready for the battle?

I. WE HAVE A GLORIOUS MINISTRY

  1. We can not quit. 2 Cor 4:1, 16; Phil 3:14
  2. We must share the gospel light. 2 Cor 4:2-4; Rom 1:14
  3. We lift up Christ and nor ourselves. 2 Cor 4:5-6; 2 Cor 2:17

II. WE HAVE A VALUABLE TREASURE

  1. God places His treasure in our earthly vessel. 2 Cor 4:7; 1 Cor 2:5
  2. We are to focus on the treasure and not the vessel. 2 Cor 4:8-10; Col 1:27
  3. We are to focus on the Master and not on the servant. 2 Cor 4:11-12; Phil 3:10

III. WE HAVE A CONFIDENT FAITH

  1. We are sure of victory in Christ. 2 Cor 4:14
  2. We are sure God will receive glory. 2 Cor 4:15
  3. We are sure our trials will grow our faith. 2 Cor 4:16-17; 1 Peter 1:7
  4. We are sure that invisible world is real and eternal. 2 Cor 4:18

IV. WE HAVE A FUTURE HOPE

  1. We know we have a home in heaven. 2 Cor 5:1; John 14:3
  2. We groan for our heavenly home. 2 Cor 5:2-5; 1 Cor 15:53
  3. We are always confident that when we leave this body we will be with the Lord. 2 Cor 5:6-8. Luke 23:43

Why And How We Must Be Saved?

WHY AND HOW WE MUST BE SAVED?

Romans 5:12-21

Truth: We must be saved because of sin. We can be saved because Jesus died for our sins. We are saved when we repent of our sin and have faith in Jesus Christ! Have you been saved?

I. WE MUST BE SAVED BECAUSE OF SIN

  1. Adam brought sin into the world. Rom 5:12, Gen 2:15-17; Gen 3:6
  2. Sin brought death to all mankind. Rom 5:12, 1 Cor 15:21- 22, Gen 3:17-19
  3. Death is the only payment for sin. Rom 6:23, Vs. 13-18

II. WE CAN BE SAVED BECAUSE CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS

  1. Jesus Christ died for the sins of Adam and all mankind. Rom 5:18, Heb 2:9, 1 John 2:2
  2. Jesus Christ died for our sins because He was sinless. Rom 5:17-19; Phil 2:8-11; 2 Cor 5:21
  3. Jesus Christ is our only hope to be saved. Rom 5:20-21;1 Tim 2:3-6

III. WE ARE SAVED ONCE WE REPENT AND BELIEVE ON CHRIST

  1. It is the goodness of God that leads one to repentance. Rom 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Acts 11:18; Acts 5:31
  2. We are saved by grace through faith. Eph 2:8, Acts 16:30-31
  3. When that are saved have eternal life. Rom 5:21; John 6:47

Truth: The grace of God provided salvation. The grace of God is a gift. The grace of God enables us. Are you saved and serving by God’s grace?

I. THE GRACE OF GOD PROVIDED SALVATION

  1. The gospel message is the good news of God’s grace. Titus 2:11, John 1:17
  2. To understand grace, we need to consider who we are without Christ. Psa 51:5, Rom 3:9-10,23; 5:6,10; 6:23
  3. Who we are with Christ. Saved by grace. Eph 2:8, serve by grace. Acts 20:24, James 4:6, Rom 15:15, 1 Cor 3:10, Eph 3:2,7

II. THE GRACE OF GOD IS A GIFT

  1. God’s grace is a gift, nothing owed in return. Eph 2:8
  2. There is no cost to the recipient, great cost to the giver. 2 Cor 8:9
  3. The gift of God’s grace is permanent, ours forever. Eph 4:30
  4. The gift of grace is completely unmerited. 2 Tim 1:9

III. THE GRACE OF GOD ENABLES US

  1. By grace We can approach Him. Titus 2:14, Heb 4:16
  2. By grace We can learn of HIM. Titus 2:12, Mat 11:29
  3. By grace We can serve HIM. Titus 2:15, 1 Cor 15:10

There Is Rest For God’s People

THERE IS REST FOR GOD’S PEOPLE

Hebrews 4:1-13

Truth: There is a rest with God in salvation. There is rest is submission to God. There is a future rest in heaven for God’s people. Are you resting in Christ?

I. THERE IS REST WITH GOD IN SALVATION

  1. As God rested on the seventh day we have rest when we are saved. Heb 4:1-5, Matt 11:28
  2. As Israel was set free from the bondage of Egypt when we believe the Gospel we are free from bondage of sin. Col 1:13-14

II. THERE IS REST IN SUBMISSION TO GOD

  1. The believer must take heed that he grieves not God with a hard heart or an erring heart, or an unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. Heb 3:7-12
  2. The believers are to exhort one another daily to prevent a hard heart because of the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:13
  3. Believers are partakers of Christ and are to labor to enter into that rest through His Holy Word. Heb 3:14-19, 4:11-13
  4. The land of Canaan is a type of our spiritual inheritance in Christ (Eph. 1:3, 11, 15-23). Matt 11:29-30

III. THERE IS A FUTURE REST IN HEAVEN FOR GOD’S PEOPLE

  1. There remains a (sab-bat-is-mos’) rest for the people of God. Heb 4:9-10
  2. When the saints enter heaven, it will be like sharing God’s great Sabbath rest, with all labors and battles ended (Rev. 14:13).
