OUR GREATEST GIFTS

John 1:10-14

Truth: The world’s greatest gift is Jesus. Our greatest gift is the salvation of Jesus. Our greatest gift to Jesus is our service for Him. What is your greatest gift?

I. THE WORLD’S GREATEST GIFT IS JESUS

  1. Jesus became flesh to save the world. John1:14; Heb 1:3; 1 Tim 1:15; John 1:29
  2. Jesus destroyed the power of sin. 1 Cor 15:55-57
  3. Jesus gave us a way to heaven. 1 Cor 15:20-22

II. OUR GREATEST GIFT IS THE GIFT OF SALVATION

  1. Jesus came to save His own. John1:10-12; Rom 10:8-13
  2. Jesus saves those that receive Him. Vs. 12; Rom 10:14-17
  3. Jesus chose to save those that believe with all their heart.

III. OUR GREATEST GIFT TO JESUS IS OUR SERVICE FOR HIM

  1. Know and show Jesus to the world. Phil 3:9-10; Matt 5:15-16
  2. Go and make disciples. Matt 28:19
  3. Love and serve one another in the church. 1 Peter 1:22; 1 Peter 4:10
  4. Give generously. 2 Cor 9:7

God Is Worthy Of Our Thanks

GOD IS WORTHY OF OUR THANKS

1 Thessalonians 5:18, Psalm 100:1-5, Psalm 95 1:11

Truth: Be thankful to God. Express your thankfulness to God. Be thankful in the tough times. Are you thankful to our God?

I. BE THANKFUL TO GOD

  1. God wants us to have an attitude of gratitude. 1 Thess 5:18, James 1:17, Rom 8:28
  2. God wants us to know He is God and we are His people. Psa 100:3; Psa 95:3-5; Psa 37:25; Matt 28:20

II. EXPRESS YOUR THANKFULNESS TO GOD

  1. Thank God for your salvation, your church, the Holy Spirit, the Word of God. Psa 107:1-2
  2. Thank God for all the blessings of life. James 1:17
  3. Thank God by praising Him. Psa 100:1, Psa 95:2
  4. Thank God by serving Him. Psa 100:2-5; 1 Peter 4:10-11

III. BE THANKFUL FOR THE TOUGH TIMES

  1. Tough times should cause us to draw closer to God. Psa 95:7-11, 2 Cor 12:9-10
  2. Tough times should cause our faith to grow. 1 Peter 1:7-8
  3. Tough times can be our greatest witness. Dan 3:16-18, Matt 10:19-20

What It Means To Really Love Jesus

WHAT IT MEANS TO REALLY LOVE JESUS

Matthew 16:24-28

Truth: To really love Jesus you have to be saved. To really love Jesus, you have to serve Him. To really love Jesus, you will suffer for Him. Do you really love Jesus?

I. TO REALLY LOVE JESUS, YOU HAVE TO BE SAVED

  1. To be saved you have to know Jesus and He has to know you. Matt 16:24, 2 Tim 1:12, Matt 7:21-23
  2. To be saved you must deny yourself. Matt 16:24, Titus 3:5. Eph 2:8-9
  3. To be saved you must surrender yourself to God. Matt 16:25, John 12:25
  4. To be saved means God has revealed Himself to you. Matt 16: 16-17, 1 John 4:13

II. TO REALLY LOVE JESUS, YOU HAVE TO SERVE HIM

  1. To serve Him you must take up the cross. Matt 16:24, Luke 9:23, Luke 14:27
  2. Serve Him in the church. Matt 16:27, 1 Peter 4:10
  3. Share the Gospel with the world. Luke 24:46-47

III. TO REALLY LOVE JESUS, YOU WILL SUFFER FOR HIM

  1. Following Jesus will cost you. Matt 16:24, Rom 12:1-2, Phil 3:7-10, Gal 2:20, 2 Tim 3:12
  2. Following Jesus will bless you and bring Him Glory. Matt 16:27-28, Rom 8:17, 2 Tim 2:12

Ephesians 4:1-16

Truth: A strong church strives for unity in Christ. A strong church stands on the truth of Christ. A strong church works hard together.

I. A STRONG CHURCH STRIVES FOR UNITY IN CHRIST

  1. We are living as prisoners of Christ. Eph 4:1; 1 Cor 15:10
  2. We think and act like Jesus. Eph 4:2-3. Acts 11:22-26; Eph 5:9; Col 3:12

II. A STRONG CHURCH STANDS ON THE TRUTH OF CHRIST

  1. We have one body, one Spirit, one hope. 1 Tim 3:15; John 14:6
  2. We have One Lord, one faith, one baptism for all. Eph 4:4; I Tim 2:5-6; Acts 4:12; Matt 20:23
  3. We have one God and Father of us all. Eph 4:6

III. A STRONG CHURCH SERVES BY THE STRENGTH OF CHRIST

  1. We are given grace based on the work of Christ. Eph 4:7-10; Psa 68:18
  2. We are placed in the church to serve so the church will grow. Eph 4:11-13. 1 Cor 12:27-28
  3. We are sound in the faith centered in Christ. Eph 4:14-15
  4. We all contribute by serving in the church. Eph 4:16; 1 Peter 4:10-11

Truth: We are to turn away from the wrong. We are to follow those who are true. We are to Continue in the holy Word of God. How will you live in these perilous times?

I. WE ARE TO TURN AWAY FROM THE WRONG

II. WE ARE TO FOLLOW THOSE WHO ARE TRUE

  1. We know they are Holy Scripture. 2 Tim 3:14-15; 1 Thess 2:13
  2. We know the Scripture made us wise unto salvation. 2 Tim 3:15; John 5:39
  3. We know the Scripture are inspired and revealed to us by God. 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21
  4. We know the Scripture are profitable for doctrine (what is right), for reproof (what is not right), for correction (how to get right), and for instruction in righteousness (how to stay right). 2 Tim 3:16. John 17:17
  5. The Scripture equip us for service. 2 Tim 3:17; 2 Tim 2:21. John 17:17-19.

Truth: A godly father understands justification by faith. A godly father lives his faith. A godly father instructs his children in faith. Thank God for our godly fathers.

I. A GODLY FATHER UNDERSTANDS JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH

  1. He knows that salvation is by faith in Christ not by works. Rom 4:1-8; Gal 2:16
  2. He has been saved by grace through faith like Abraham. Rom 4:9-17; Gen 15:6
  3. He shares his faith like Abraham. Rom 4:11; Proverbs 11:30

II. A GODLY FATHER LIVES BY FAITH

III. A GODLY FATHER INSTRUCTS HIS CHILDREN IN FAITH

  1. He loves his wife as Christ loves His church. Eph 5:25-26

  3. He loves the church by serving. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Truth: Our military served and sacrificed for us. Jesus served and sacrifice for us. Christians are saved to serve and sacrifice. Are you living a life of sacrifice?

I. OUR MILITARY SERVED AND SACRIFICED FOR US

  1. They thought of others not themselves. Phil 2:3-4
  2. They served.
  3. They sacrificed.
  4. They brought freedom to old glory.

II. JESUS CHRIST SERVED AND SACRIFICED FOR US

  1. Jesus thought of us and not himself. Phil 2:5-6

II. REVIVAL COMES WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES

  1. The Holy Spirit convicts so deeply that only Christ can bring relief. Acts 10:44-45; Gal 3:22
  2. The Holy Spirit revives the backslidden. Psa 51:10-13
  3. God receives glory for the salvation of sinners and the reviving of the saints. Acts 10:46, Acts 8:39

III. REVIVAL BRINGS TRANSFORMATION TO ALL

  1. Sinners are saved join the church and live for God. Acts 10:47-48. Acts 2:47
  2. Christians forsake their sins and return to fellowship and service to Christ and His church.
  3. The church has a positive effect on society.

Truth: The grace of God provided salvation. The grace of God is a gift. The grace of God enables us. Are you saved and serving by God’s grace?

I. THE GRACE OF GOD PROVIDED SALVATION

  1. The gospel message is the good news of God’s grace. Titus 2:11, John 1:17
  2. To understand grace, we need to consider who we are without Christ. Psa 51:5, Rom 3:9-10,23; 5:6,10; 6:23
  3. Who we are with Christ. Saved by grace. Eph 2:8, serve by grace. Acts 20:24, James 4:6, Rom 15:15, 1 Cor 3:10, Eph 3:2,7

II. THE GRACE OF GOD IS A GIFT

  1. God’s grace is a gift, nothing owed in return. Eph 2:8
  2. There is no cost to the recipient, great cost to the giver. 2 Cor 8:9
  3. The gift of God’s grace is permanent, ours forever. Eph 4:30
  4. The gift of grace is completely unmerited. 2 Tim 1:9

III. THE GRACE OF GOD ENABLES US

  1. By grace We can approach Him. Titus 2:14, Heb 4:16
  2. By grace We can learn of HIM. Titus 2:12, Mat 11:29
  3. By grace We can serve HIM. Titus 2:15, 1 Cor 15:10
